The Pulp Report

What this site knows about you

Almost nothing, and the reason is structural rather than virtuous: there is nothing here that collects anything.

The whole of it, in one paragraph

These are static pages. There is no account to open, no form to fill in, no newsletter, no comments and no quote request. Nothing on this site asks you to type anything, so there is nothing for us to store. If you email us, we have your address and your words until the message is dealt with, and then we do not.

Cookies and measurement

We place nothing on your device from this domain — no analytics, no advertising tags, no preference store, nothing that survives you closing the tab. That means we cannot tell you how many people read any given page, which is occasionally inconvenient and is the trade we have made.

Your browser still tells the server that serves these files the ordinary things any browser tells any server: the address requested, roughly where the request came from, and which browser made it. That is how a web page arrives at all, and it is not something we collect, keep or look at.

Health details, and why the absence of a form matters here

This is a site about a painful tooth, which means the obvious feature to build would be a form where somebody describes their symptoms. Details about your mouth and your treatment are sensitive under UK and EU data protection law and under several US state health-privacy laws, and the right way to look after that kind of information is not to invite it in the first place. So we have not, and we will not.

Two pages on this site carry links marked as commercial. Following one takes you to that company's own site, which then applies its own privacy policy, its own cookies and its own tracking — none of which we control or can see. We are told, at most, that a sale happened. We are never told who you are, what you bought, or anything about your teeth.

Changes, and how you would know

If this policy changes, the date on the page changes too, and the previous wording is not quietly overwritten in place — it is replaced in the same source file that produces every other page here, and that file's history is the record. If something here ever stops being true, writing to [email protected] is the fastest way to get it corrected.
